My name is Vynka. My husband, Grant and I have three amazing children
who are the light of our lives. In August last year I was diagnosed with Stage
4 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. This was, as you could imagine, the last thing we were
expecting! I was a healthy, active 34 year old woman... These things just
didn't happen to people like me! Since then I have undergone a 6 course
treatment of chemotherapy, which finished on December 27th. I'm currently
waiting on results of a bone marrow biopsy, which will determine my course of
action.
I'm one of the most fortunate people I can think
of. I have a wonderful family, my parents and parents in law moved up from the
Waikato after we transferred here nearly 13 years ago. They are constant
sources of support and have wonderful relationships with our children. My 2
brothers and their families are amazing. People I would admire even if we
weren't related. People with strong work ethics and an even stronger love of
their families. I'm lucky to have them! And my friends!!! Where do I start?
There isn't anyone in the world with more loyal, genuine and fun friends than
me. There's always someone with a crazy plan, a car ride, or a coffee. People
who call in unexpectedly and make my day, and people who I don't need to speak
to for months, but when we do catch up, it's like we talk every day.
Grant and I have been fortunate enough to have
been involved in our children's lives to the fullest. We home schooled our
children until the lure of new lunch boxes put paid to that. We coach netball
teams and soccer teams and have both been on numerous sporting and educational
committees. We choose to holiday as a family rather than as a couple because we
enjoy having our children around. Who wouldn't? They're great kids!
My greatest wish is that I will see them grow up.
